We have decided to split the solidarity funds from this year’s Paranoyafest Entrance, Cocktails and Solimerch between two organizations (Dunya Collective and Polylux e.V.).

Dunya Collective

The Dunya Collective introduces itself:

“Dear like-minded people, fellow punks, and comrades,

The Dunya Collective was founded in 2020 as a media collective and then immediately went to Lesbos for a year during the COVID-19 pandemic to report on conditions in the Moria refugee camp—at the time, likely the most notorious camp in Europe. In 2022, we traveled to Lithuania, on the EU’s external border, when Lukashenko deliberately sent refugees toward Europe. In 2023, we were in northeastern Syria, conducting research on climate change, war, and displacement. Then, in 2024, we went to Argentina: protests and a general strike against Milei. In early 2025, just a few weeks after Assad’s overthrow, we were back on the road in Syria.

We’ve also reported on the so-called Budapest Case, particularly regarding the case of Maja T. This led to the creation of the comic “In the Nest of Snakes,” a collaboration with the Italian comic artist Zerocalcare and Letatlin Publishing. The German translation was done by Nico K.I.Z. (

Another focus of our work is our events, which take place in Dresden and sometimes beyond. These include lectures, readings, talks, and movie nights followed by discussions. Topics often include migration, displacement, or the political situation in Syria, Iran, and Kurdistan. We work closely with local communities on these events. The events are almost always full, and the movie theaters are regularly sold out.

In addition, there are exhibitions and, currently, work on a Leftvision documentary about Maja T. [1] and the so called Budapest Case.

All of this costs an absurd amount of money, and almost always we cover the entire cost ourselves out of our own pockets. Reporting on the legal proceedings surrounding Maja T. alone cost us about 4,500 €. Each trip to Syria cost between €3,500 and €4,500. In contrast, article fees from newspapers range from €70 to €120. So, relying on that to cover our costs is unrealistic and would, in any case, mean more work. And sometimes things really go haywire: While covering the “Block Everything” protests in France in September 2025, we were deliberately attacked by cops. The result: a damaged camera and a destroyed, expensive zoom lens. The cost of the damage: about 3,500 €.

[1] The Budapest Complex refers to criminal proceedings in Hungary concerning a series of violent attacks on neo-nazis during the “Day of Honour” events in Budapest in February 2023. Several international left-wing activists have been accused of participating in these attacks.

[2] Maja T., a German non-binary activist accused in connection with the Budapest attacks, was extradited from Germany to Hungary in June 2024. Germany’s Federal Constitutional Court later ruled that the extradition violated Maja T.’s fundamental rights because the transfer took place before the Court could effectively intervene.”

Polylux e.V

“Polylux makes the democratic civil society visible.
It helps people find places like cafes where lesbian couples feel safe or youth clubs that stand against racism. By promoting visibility, it creates positive future perspectives and offers protection from right-wing attacks and arbitrary actions by authorities.

Polylux supports alternative projects.
It backs those who engage in civil society in eastern German communities, ensuring they know they are not alone. The network demonstrates that people across Germany stand behind them.

Polylux provides secure and solidarity-based funding.
While it cannot prevent political parties like the AfD from cutting funding for critical projects, it helps these initiatives become independent of such funding. It achieves this through a network of supporters from all over the country.

Polylux is run by a small group of volunteers from cities like Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden, Cottbus, and other locations in eastern Germany. Some of the members have stayed, others moved away, while some recently relocated. What happens in eastern Germany matters to them, and they care deeply about those standing up to right-wing extremism in smaller communities. Everyone involved works on a voluntary basis.

The Polylux network collaborates with initiatives and organizations such as the Kulturbüro Sachsen, Bündnis Tolerantes Sachsen, Aktionsbündnis Brandenburg, Netzwerk Selbsthilfe, we’ll come united, ezra Thüringen, and Miteinander e.V.

“Liebe Gleichgesinnte, Mitpunkist:innen und Genoss:innen,

das Dunya Collective hat sich 2020 als Medienkollektiv gegründet und sind dann erstmal direkt während Corona für ein Jahr nach Lesbos gegangen, um über die Zustände im Flüchtlingslager Moria zu berichten; damals wahrscheinlich das berüchtigtste Lager Europas. 2022 ging’s nach Litauen an die EU-Außengrenze, als Lukaschenko gezielt Geflüchtete Richtung Europa geschickt hat. 2023 waren wir in Nordostsyrien und haben zu Klimawandel, Krieg und Flucht recherchiert. 2024 dann Argentinien: Proteste und Generalstreik gegen Milei. Anfang 2025 waren wir nur wenige Wochen nach dem Sturz Assads erneut in Syrien unterwegs.

Nebenbei haben wir immer wieder zum sogenannten Budapest-Komplex berichtet, vor allem zum Fall von Maja T. Daraus entstand gemeinsam mit dem italienischen Comiczeichner Zerocalcare und dem Letatlin-Verlag der Comic „Im Nest der Schlangen“. Die deutsche Übersetzung kam von Nico K.I.Z.

Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt sind unsere Veranstaltungen, in Dresden, manchmal auch darüber hinaus. Vorträge, Lesungen, Talks, Kinoabende mit Diskussionen danach. Themen sind oft Migration, Flucht oder die politische Lage in Syrien, Iran und Kurdistan. Wir arbeiten dabei eng mit den jeweiligen Communities vor Ort zusammen. Die Veranstaltungen sind fast immer voll, die Kinos regelmäßig
ausverkauft.

Dazu kommen Ausstellungen und aktuell die Arbeit an einer Leftvision-Doku über Maja T. und den Budapest-Komplex.

Das alles kostet absurd viel Geld und fast immer tragen wir das komplett selbst von unserer privaten Kohle. Allein die Berichterstattung über die Verfahren rund um Maja T. haben uns etwa 4.500 € gekostet. Die Syrienreisen lagen jeweils zwischen 3.500 € und 4.500 €. Artikelhonorare in Zeitungen bewegen sich dagegen irgendwo zwischen 70 bis 120 €. Eine Refinanzierung dadurch ist also illusorisch und würde ja so oder so auch ein Mehr an Arbeit bedeuten.

Und manchmal kracht es dann auch noch richtig: Bei der Berichterstattung über die „Blockiert Alles“-Proteste, im September 2025, in Frankreich wurden wir gezielt von Cops angegriffen. Ergebnis: Kamera beschädigt, teures Zoomobjektiv zerstört. Schaden: rund 3.500 €.

Diejenigen, die sich in ostdeutschen Kommunen für die Zivilgesellschaft engagieren, sollen wissen, dass sie nicht allein sind. Wir zeigen ihnen, dass ein breites Netzwerk aus ganz Deutschland hinter ihnen steht.

Polylux sorgt für eine sichere, solidarische Finanzierung.
Wir können nicht verhindern, dass die AfD unbequemen Projekten den Geldhahn zudreht. Aber wir sorgen dafür, dass Projekte von diesem Geldhahn unabhängig werden. Durch ein Netzwerk von Unterstützer*innen aus dem ganzen Bundesgebiet.

Wer steht hinter Polylux?
Polylux, das sind eine kleine Gruppe von ehrenamtlich arbeitenden Menschen aus Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden, Cottbus und anderen ostdeutschen Orten. Wir sind weggegangen, geblieben oder neu dort hingezogen. Was im Osten passiert, geht uns nah. Und diejenigen, die sich in kleineren Orten den rechten Menschenfeinden entgegen stellen, sind uns nicht egal. Bei Polylux arbeiten wir alle ehrenamtlich.
